About Us

Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IJCCI) is a multi-dimensional organization, promoting educational, cultural and economic activities between Japan and India. Established in 1989, IJCCI is an all-India bilateral Chamber with around 250 members, big, medium and small from all-over India. A grassroot organization headquartered in Chennai, it works in close cooperation with various Indian state governments and the federal government in Delhi, besides several leading chambers of commerce & industry all over Japan.

IJCCI Language School conducts Japanese Language classes, both class room teaching and distance education. One of the aims of the organization is to make the Language School a Centre for Japanese Studies. With this end in view the Chamber has set up several special cells – a Japan Round Table, a forum for discussion among intellectuals ; a Japan Forum, to stimulate interest on Japan among students; a Study Centre on Japanese Management Techniques to create awareness among students, shop floor workers, business executives and general public and an IPR Cell to educate and enlighten every one interested to know about intellectual property rights in view of its growing importance in the present business scenario.

IJCCI, recently, has established an Energy Cell in view of the growing energy crisis all over the world. The Cell comprises scientists, organizations, corporates and administrators involved with clean and renewable sources of energy with a view to bring together like minded SMEs in Japan and India.

Understanding Japanese culture is a prerequisite for doing business with Japan. IJCCI acts a bridge between the artistes and art lovers of Japan and India. The Chamber organizes cultural programmes for visiting artistes from Japan on request.

On the economic front the organization has been acting as an industrial consultant, investment promoter and business facilitator since inception. The list of Japanese delegations IJCCI has interacted from 1988 are many.

To mention a few :

IJCCI has been receiving several individual businessmen and small business groups from Japan from time to time, keen to establish business in Tamilnadu. The ultimate aim of IJCCI is to bring together right businessmen for the right business from Japan and India. IJCCI acts as a catalyst for business match-making and with this end in view the Chamber organized a mega two-day international business conference in Chennai with participation from both Japanese and Indian SMEs in February 2012.

IJCCI has organized four industrial delegations to Japan - in 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013 which were memorable, rewarding and productive of results. The delegation visits covered interaction with Chambers of Commerce from Tokyo to Fukuoka and Saga and meetings with dignitaries of several Prefectural Governments and the Federal Government in Tokyo.

IJCCI is proud to record that the Chamber always works in tandem with all chambers of commerce & industry and economic organizations in the city and outside, in all its activities. The core group of the Chamber also meets with representatives of these organizations from time to time to discuss and delineate the thrust areas of cooperation with Japanese Business. The Chamber is confident that the initiatives and efforts it has been taking will go a long way to strengthen the economic ties between Japan and India in the coming decades.
